Winter is coming!

Here’s how I combat dry dull skin during the few cold months we have here on the French Riviera

Winter is absolutely my favourite time of year!! Cozy nights by the fireplace, christmas scented candles, fluffy jumpers and lots of Baileys! The cold crisp air that nips your cheeks and nose however, is not ideal for your skin.

The heating is cranked up and the hot dry air is sucking all the moisture out of you skin, then your lips and nose start peeling, BEAutiful! where is glowing flawless complexion you imagined?

Here’s how I combat dry dull skin during the few cold months we have here on the French Riviera

Trust me, Face oil!

- A great face oil is one that it will prevent moisture from

evaporating from the skin. Since moisture is in short supply during the winter, and the moisture your skin does manage to retain will likely be sucked up by dry air from a heater, keeping as much of it in as possible is crucial. Try adding a few drops to, or under your standard daytime moisturiser. I love Lumity’s Anti Ageing Face Oil and Environ’s Hydrating Oil Capsules at night time.

Get a facial!

- Vitamins and antioxidants give your winter skin that summer glow In addition to giving you a fantastic instant glow, our Vitamin therapy facial seals in a layer of vitamins and antioxidants that helps protect your skin from the elements. Antioxidant blends can help reverse the free radical damage we accumulate with sun exposure and pollution. Our Vitamin facial includes a light hydrating cool peel to exfoliate and smooth dry skin. We use various methods to really lock in vitamins and antioxidants!

Winter is also the time to really work on any sun damage and pigmentation you accumulated from the summer months.

just a heads up… now is also the time to start your IPL Hair Removal Course ready for summer!!

Protect lips from ‘lick eczema’

- Make sure your lips are sealed with an effective ointment at all times, particularly before eating and drinking as some foods like tomatoes which can irritate chapped lips. I recommend Cicaplast Balm B5 by La Roche Posay. If you are skiing remember lips are vulnerable to sun burn. Environ’s SPF15 Lip balm is a fantastic physical sunscreen and will help to reflect the UV away from the skin of your face and lips.

Exfoliate

- No matter how many serums and creams are applied, dry skin will stay dry without some light exfoliation. Use something with a mild glycolic or lactic acid to get off the dead skin. Environ’s Alpha toner is gentle and effective. For those with raw or severely dry skin, skip the exfoliator and incorporate a wet washcloth instead for a gentler option. And tailor your Retin-A usage to every other day because, while it’s surely the wrinkle-fighting hero product, it is also a strong exfoliant and may cause extra dryness during the winter. Now that the skin is buffed, serums and moisturisers can penetrate and really get to work.

Moisturise moisturise moisturise!

- Make sure your skin is fully moisturised, my clients use their Environ AVST or Youth essentia range all year round but it is important to add a heavy cream to them in the winter months. The Environ Cquence Creme is the ideal addition to your routine this winter.

Finally, I’m sure you're so bored of me saying it…. BUT YES YOU STILL NEED TO WEAR SPF EVERY DAY EVEN IN WINTER!!!

These are just a couple of my top tips for beautiful skin for a lifetime! be sure to book in for a free skin consultation to go through your routine and see how we can improve your skin today!
